Default RE: Occasional Exhaust smoke??

Head gasket would be white.

Dark colored smoke would be oil.

Default RE: Occasional Exhaust smoke??

Dark smoke(black)is fuel. not oil. Believe me I know. I've had my maf pop off the boot before the intake and she belched rich black smoke out and wouldn't stay running. Plus my car was running rich before I had it dyno tuned and it burnt more fuel than normal cuasing the black smoke. Oil is Blueish white smoke, I know again because I just went through this with my burnt pistong ring and the bluish smoke from the burning oil pouring out of my exhaust and valve covers.

Qoute from another resource
"White smoke when first started is normal. If white smoke continues you have an internal coolant leak, i.e., cracked head/blown head gasket. Black smoke is caused by a rich fuel condition. Blue smoke is caused by oil consumption."
