Default Waste-o-money?

This
Now, I know there is A LOT of discussion and debate about radar dectors on this site. I don't want to start a debate, I just want to know the best one I can get for about 130 bucks. It has to be a legal one too. Thanks.

As far as I know, this is no legal radar detector.

They're legal, except in Canada and maybe a few random states?

Escort Passport 8500 has saved my butt more times than I can remember. You can find good deals for them on ebay.

Well here you go. How about that. I always thought they were illegal.

"Are radar detectors legal?
Yes! Radar detectors are completely legal to use in non-commercial vehicles in 49 states. Virginia and Washington DC are the only places in the United States that currently ban radar detectors. Radar detector use in commercial vehicles has been prohibited in the U.S. since 1995 and radar detectors are also illegal in most Canadian provinces. We do not track detector regulations in other countries."

Not legal in Canada where I live. Maybe in 1 or 2 provinces, but for the most part they are Illegal here too.

Hell yeah. Same here.
In my opinion, get a really good one, Escort or Valentine. It will more than pay for itself. I haven't had a speeding ticket since I got my 8500 over 4 years ago.

Radar detectors only work on radar. Most cops use laser now and a detector wont do **** for ya. You need a radar detector AND laser jammer.

The Escort and Valentine detectors also detect the laser or lidar signals in addition to the usual X, K, and Ka band radars.

I've got a $100 Whistler I've had since 1998. It works damn good, detects everything, and it didn't break me buying it.
