Front seats to racing seats?

Front seats to racing seats?
Does anyone know what kind of weight reduction you would get out of swapping the front seats to (nice) racing seats, aka comfortable ones?
I have the drivers side power seat with lumbar and the regular passegner seat.
I was thinking if you could get 100 pounds or so out of the front seats doing the 30-40 pound rear seat delete would be worth it. 130~ pounds would be a pretty good drop off the car...

RE: Front seats to racing seats?
I read from this site that the drivers seat is 58lbs and the passenger 40lbs... if you have leather seats... http://users.adelphia.net/~mustang-9...0Reduction.htm
I replaced my driver seat with a fiberglass racing shell. It probably weighs 58lbs.. lol My seat probably weighs 20lbs with the bracket, but you would probably want a reclinable one which will be heavier... Mines very comfortable though, I have had mine in for over a year with no complaints. As for the rear seat, that site says 48... I dont know about that... I removed mine for a while and put a seat delete in.. but it was way too loud then. I am going to put sound deading all through out my car. that will cure that but add probably 150lbs.. lol. You will probably save atleast 50-60lbs... its worth it. just going to racing seats even if they were heavier its worth it!!!

RE: Front seats to racing seats?
So maybe 60 pounds for the front 2 seats and 35 pounds for a seat delete kit then? 100 pounds doesn't seem like that much for the sheer price.
How much was your seat? Your saying the factory seat probably weighs 58? and that your new one total weighs 20?
Do you have a link to where you got your seat?

I don't think you should look at it from a weight stand point. I think you should look at it more from a functionablity aspect. After market seats are more comfortable and help keep you in the seat when doing crazy things. That's really the only reason I can see to swap them.

I bought my Recaro SPG-XL from this company... http://www.northstarmotorsports.com/.../productID/649
Though thats the SPG model I guess they changed the SPG-XL model to a full out race version. I needed the XL since I am 6'5" I went to a Porsche show room where they had Recaros on display and tryed out my seat before I bought it online, seeing that I payed $980 for the seat I want to make sure if fits right... I would go recaro or sparco for racing seats, very reputable and quality products. That company that I bought from is a good company to order things through too....
