I don't know how that one website managed to do it, but everyone quotes them and thinks its right lol. Like I said though, a bigger combustion chamber, the same pistons/crank/rod, and a higher compression ratio? Wtf?
Thanks you just crushed my dreams of my 02 being a factory freak[:@]. Damn I knew that the LS1 I raced couldn't have been trying

I've been living a lie all my life

I have been around a few factory freaks, worked with them everyday that is. When you have to hire at 9 bucks an hour you don't always get the best help around here

Didn't they bump up the compression a slight bit after 2000 or so?

After researching about other forced induction cars(DSM,Evo, etc) 8:5 or somewhere around there is a good number. No need to go higher and make the engine make power, that's what boost is for

I've seen some 9:x forced induction builds before and it seems a bit silly. They are often limited to the amount of boost they can run. Don't you gain something like 4% power for every full compression point? Might as well go low and be able to run more boost.
Those cars need lower CR's because they are running Turbo and lots of boost...Usually with a Turbo or Positive Displacement Blower you will want to bring the compression down in the mid 8's so you can run more boost and make tuning easier. With a Centri haveing a comression ration @ where the stock c/r is now is very good.(9.3-9.4) It allows the engine to make some power down low before the boost kicks in.
The 03/04 Cobra has a C/R @ 8.5 but thats a PD blower setup...
