Default Do my numbers not make sense to you either?

Well the point was brought up last night that my car does not make power very high on the tach.

Check out the sheet on the other thread.

I make max power at 5950rpm and max tq at 4500rpm. Doesnt that sound a little low for Stage 3 heads, and comp 270's? I didnt really notice until then. Whats the deal?

Initially, it does seema little odd, but the operating range of the 270s is 1800 to 5800. They are more like a stage 1.5 really. I think your numbers are correct. The heads may have dropped them a little, but essentially, they seem about right.

Didn't really pay attention, but yep that's kinda strange. My max power was just under 6500 and started to flat line just over 6700.

its the stroker, it kills the high end power...nobody ever listens but if you search around you would know why people don't do strokers on 2V's like they do with 5.0's...A stroker will give you a small gain in TQ down low but will lose HP in the upper RPM's...these engines need more bore not stroke to make power.

Damn, I didn't pay attention to the stroker. Nice catch droptop.

To fix that you should throw on a good centri blower. The power you get down low from the stroker would be matched very well with a centri.

He can't run a centri.. . he has a high compression shortblock assembly.

Edit: same thing for hte shorties, could be killing top end power?>

Didn't you say your running a set of stock manifolds still?
No sir, I have BBK shorties. I guess i understand about the stroker. But dont tell me a 281 with the same mods is gonna have more power/torque, or be faster than me.

Actually, I have been researching it quite extensively. It is possible with the high compression, but it will be a race gas only motor. I am debating doing a Pro Charger D1 @ 15 psi. I will have to run atleast 104 octane and would change to a return style fuel system. At 15psi with 104 octane and a nitrous shot on the intercooler, 60# injectors and 95mm Big Air MAF, I would be looking at 725+rwhp. I have everything but the fuel system, injectors and MAF.

damm that would be nuts. The 104 will make up enough for all that compression?
