recommended max redline for stock 2v
What do you guys recommend as the max redline to run a stock 2v at before you start into the "dangerzone"? I currently have my SCT revlimit set at 5900 for safety. Am I being a bit to timid? Does it even matter until I get cams or other engine components that can take advantage of the extra few hundred rpm's? Thanks.

Yeah, I've heard that it is relatively safe to run the stock internals to around 6100 rpm. The rumor is that most won't have a problem with this but that you are still pushing your luck past 6k. Hence my reasoning for the thread. Just wanted to get others opinion on it. I've had my car to the revlimit of 5900rpm quite a bit and I don't have any problems (yet). But I run mobil 1 oil and I suppose that's gotta count for something. Along with regular maintenance and pampering. Crap, with the 4.10's I almost can't shift outta 1st quick enough. It gets up there freakin quick!

As far as know, the mechanical limiting factor is the valve springs. Also, your stock oil pump is sized for the heat generated at stock rpms... more rpm = more heat from friction.
I'd check with your tuner to see what the practical power gains are to be had above stock redline (if any). I wouldn'tgo above stockunless a trusted tuner agreed with the idea.

I run the fuel cutoff at 6250 and try to shift at 6000 RPM. The PI 4.6L should peak around 5500 stock, but you need to take it past that or when you shift to the next gear it will drop down too far in the RPM band and fall out of the powerband.
I am running aftermarket valvesprings, but so far as damage occuring I think your pretty safe. Considering I am running a FI engine (and RPM kills FI engines) 6250 shouldn't throw a rod or anything stupid.
