Default exhaust advice?

After buying the 04 mustang gt Inoticed the stock exhaust sounded too silent so I had flowmaster 40 series mufflersadded to give that more rumble sound. It sounds better, but still sounds a little raspy and somewhat restricted. Is that because I didn't have a true catback installed or thatI'm missing something else.

Most mufflers are like 97% purely for sound. You are right. If you really wanna open up your exhaust flow, you gotta get some 2.5" pipes. (Stock is 2.25" I think). Get an aftermarket true catback not just mufflers, but mainly LT headers and a mid pipe. You will be happier.

+ 1 LT's and Mid pipe will really open up your exhaust flow

What's the cheaper way to go? Just get the mid pipe. Is the mid pipe the same as the x or h pipe? Or do I really need the full catback? The flowmaster muffler exhaust sounds kind of restricted. Will the mid pipe, x, or h pipe solve that problem?

Midpipe will solve the problem. Yes its an H or X pipe. Whichever you want. You can keep your weld in flows.

Which mid pipe would you advise? And how much do they run and where can you pick them up? Do shops like Pep boys, autozone, or something like midas carry them?
