exhaust advice?

exhaust advice?
After buying the 04 mustang gt Inoticed the stock exhaust sounded too silent so I had flowmaster 40 series mufflersadded to give that more rumble sound. It sounds better, but still sounds a little raspy and somewhat restricted. Is that because I didn't have a true catback installed or thatI'm missing something else.

Most mufflers are like 97% purely for sound. You are right. If you really wanna open up your exhaust flow, you gotta get some 2.5" pipes. (Stock is 2.25" I think). Get an aftermarket true catback not just mufflers, but mainly LT headers and a mid pipe. You will be happier.

What's the cheaper way to go? Just get the mid pipe. Is the mid pipe the same as the x or h pipe? Or do I really need the full catback? The flowmaster muffler exhaust sounds kind of restricted. Will the mid pipe, x, or h pipe solve that problem?
