Default Possible to make scoop function as ram air?

Would it be possible to turn the stock scoop on my hood into a functional ram air? I figure if I could get something made that runs from the hood to the airbox, I could do it. Also, how would I avoid water in my intake with this? How is the mach ram set up to avoid water?

No. There is not. Aixtreme just did a ghetto setup on his that worked fairly well. It's not ram air, but seems to work decent via his new track numbers.

So if he did it in some way, couldn't you do it to the hood?

With a hood that has enough height, maybe. But, you wouldn't be ramming the air into the intake, just porviding cooler air.

I have the March Ram Air system and it does help. Unfortunately, the scoop is under the bumper and makes for a heck of a road cleaner....same would the true for Aixtreme. The hood mount would be nice...good luck fabbing that one.

I figured it would be hard to fab it into the current scoop. I would like a functional scoop, but they are $800 for the parts without hood or labor. Maybe I could get a mach hood and scoop from a crashed mach.

Sure its possible. But the problem is thats very restrictive to make it in the location of where the fake hood scopp is... You will have to make a complete 180degree turn and back to the stock air box. That is very restrictive. If your going to try it, I would suggest getting a hood from a junk hard and practice on that. Also alot of the air goes over the hood and wouldnt go into the hood scoop. But I would love to give it a try if I had another hood to cut up.

As for my ram air picking up road crap, it probably will some what, but I still have the filter on of course. So that will help catch most of the crap, I will clean it regularly. The March ram air makes you locate it alot further down, below the bumper, mine is in the bumper, about 7" off the ground.

I had my car setup with ram air going through the factory scoop.Aixtreme beleive me plenty of air goes into the scoop I had to replace my hood because it became a pain when i couldnt go over 70mph before my scoop would tear of my hood.Thats right 6 bolts and it still tore off. If you would like i could take pics of it and post it for you guys.
