well i cant say bc I havnt done it yet, but I have been told that drilled/slotted rotors, new pads and braided lines make almost as much difference, something to look into. 400 for the oem type deals is a nice cheap upgrade.. but if you want to big I say go with wilwood or bear, my friends track car uses them.. and holy **** they are bad.. but set you back 2k easy

I went with the Mach1/Bullit upgrade and am very happy with it. How can you go wrong...

Try pricing the Brembo kit and see the price difference. The Mach kit IS Brembo but has the silver pony on the red caliper.

Arn't all of them brembo stuff? (calipers anyway)

Anyone else have input on the "PBR" stuff? The only thing I know about PBR is pabst blue ribbon, and that sucks.

Pabst Blue Ribbon tastes like hot garbage, unless someone else buys it.

Budweiser FTW!!!

Default RE: Brake Upgrade?

Brembo and PBR are both brake component manufacturers, and both already supply good quality components directly to Ford.

Your stock 99-04 GT already has PBR calipers in front with10.8x1.0" front rotors & dual piston PBR calipers. In the rear, you have single piston Varga calipers & a 10" solid rotor.

When you upgrade to the Cobra/Bullitt/Mach (CBM) brake package, you end up with 13.0x1.1" (Brembo supplied) rotors & different spec dual piston PBR calipers. The rear caliper is the same, but the rear rotor is a larger 11.65" and it's vented instead of solid - much better if you ever plan to autocross or opentrack your car, but not necessary for most street-only cars, as the front brakes do ~70% of the work. The rear brake upgrade scares a lot of people away, as you have to pull the rear axles to install the brackets. It's really only a couple hour job...

The CBM FRONT calipers are functionally the same thing - for the Cobra, they have a COBRA logo cast into them, and are available in red or grey/black. For the Bullitt, they have a silver running horse on a red caliper, and for the Mach I, they are plain black.

All REAR calipers are functionally the same - the Bullitt and 10th Ann Cobra rears are painted red.

Finally, Brembo also has a NICE front brake upgrade package that will run you ~$900 for the front only. It uses the 13" rotor, but with Brembo 4-piston calipers. This is the setup used on Saleens (with brake upgrade option) and the Cobra R. Very nice - especially for track use, but overkill for most street cars.
