intakes: JLT

RE: intakes: JLT
Get a JLT RAI and take your headlight out at the track. I installed one on my brothers car in 20 minutes. It's easy to clean the filter and it seemed to make a slight difference. The size of it is huge compared to my C&L intake (with I had a JLT). You can also get them painted to match!

Hmmmm, I agree with how it would be easier to get to it to clean it if it was in the engine compartment.....so does it REALLY matter if its in the fenderwell or not? I didn't know they moved the air meter, the RAI is cheaper too. Did anyone have the shave their oil cap stem down for it to fit cuz its pretty wide? I'm thinking RAI.... is it easy to install?

I still say CAI. Looks badass to have a huge 4 inch tube going into your fender. It relocates the mass air meter to right above the filter. Which sits just above the bottom of the bumper behind the inner fender. you could take yuour fog light out if you wanted more air.

RE: intakes: JLT
regardless of CAI or RAI, JLT is a good brand correct? I know an intake is an intake really, but I guess I just feel like spending money. Its supposed to be a little better than other intakes or is that a rumor?

First off, in 2001 Ford changed the transmission from a T-45 to a Tremec 3650. Also the water pump pulley was changed. But as far as the CAI situation goes, I'm not too sure. I mean people say the bend before the computer affects readings but I doubt that as long as you keep your MAF clean. Anyway I've heard JLT makes "real" power but they all claim to do that.

It was actually a T-45. But I know what you mean. I actually didn't know in the JLT one they relocate the MAF lower before the bend... or thats what people just posted. So i guess it wouldn't matter.
