Default Just bought some parts

I just bought 3.73s and a short shifter for my 2002 GT. My car is stock except for flowmaster 40's. I've never been to the track, but do you guys think that on a decent run my car will be capable of high 13's?

Capable of it? Yes. You will have to drive well. People have gotten the cars in high 13's stock but I forget where I saw that. But they are professional drivers that do it for a living.

it is certainly capable... there have been 13.9's run in stock GT's. rare, but it is possible. also depends on how much of a beating you wanna give your car.

By the way, do you guys thinkI should change the differential oil after the gear install? A friend told meI can reuse the curent oil but I'd rather get new. What type of oil do you recomened? I prefer to buy things at an autoparts store becauseI hate to wait for things in the mail. You think autozone has royal purple???

Why did you waste your money on a shorty shifter, especially not ever having been to a track? Hope you dont miss a gear. My freinds 03 GT ran a 13.96, but he's been driving mustangs all hislife andknows how to drivethem very well. The only thing that isnt stock are the mufflers and tires.

Definitely change the gear oil, and I'm 99% sure that Autozone or Pep Boys will have the royal purple gear oil.

Is there a certain viscosity rating or whatever for gear oil? How much oil do our cars need? Thanks to all of you that have responded.
