rear gears might get you .5-.6 seconds off the ET with tires that can hold them and not spin. don't think that just tires, exhaust and gears will gain a full second, especially with an auto, but those are the right mods to make first anyway. easiest and cheapest thing to do is lose all the dead weight out of the car you can when you go to the strip. and don't go there with a full tank of gas either.

i can't believe you guys forgot to mention a GOOD shift kit!! I bought my trans go reprogramming kit off ebay for $98 shipped. And yes there is a differance between a shift kit and reprogramming kit. That will make a big differance in the 1/4. I have yet to run mine, hopefully I can pull mid 14's if I can hook up on oringinal goodyears!!!!! lol

every 100 lbs of weight you can lose will lower the ET by .100 seconds, and gas weighs about 6.2 lbs/gallon, so you do the math and see what you think!

when I went to the 3.73 gears from the stock 2.73's in my 88, I really didn't see much of a drop off in gas mileage at all, but then again I didn't go around flooring the gas pedal from every stoplight either! the lower gears will actually get the car to accelerate easier and this gets you up into the higher tranny gears sooner which can actually save gas if you don't have a super heavy right foot on the gas pedal 24/7!

Swapping your front seats out for any type of 'racing' seat helps.

I have 4.10 gears and I get awesome gas mileage from short shifting around town.
