RE: hood pins
I just got rid of my Stalker fiberglass hood that used pins. There is no way I would trust that hood without the pins. The little latch part was just too flimsy to hold the hood down withoutbreaking. Maybe some hoods havereinforced latch parts.
My pins didn't have wires either. Here's a pic

RE: hood pins
I'm not sure what brand mine was - it was on the car when I bought it. It was all fiberglass and not re-inforced in the latch and no metal where the latcharea isso I know it wouldn't hold.
but I'm confused now- is your carbon ware hood actually fiberglass? I thought carbon ware hoods were...well carbon. It sounds like if yours has the metal reinforcing around the hole where the latch is; and is reinforced then it should be alright without pins. If Jonbeasts carbonware hood stays down without pins I don't see why yours wouldn't.

RE: hood pins
Im about to pick up a pair of pins this week. on my drive to work my hood poped upwhile i was going 80. i pulled over and saw that my metal latch on the hood is rusty and slightly coroded(my spelling sux) just enough to miss the hood lock.
