Default shifting an auto

I'm wondering, is there really any difference from manually shifting and auto trans or just leaving it in drive and putting it to the floor? Is there any performance benefits by doing that or is it just giving you the capability to shift through 1-2 gears?(on a basically stock car)

your car will shift quicker and better if you just let it do the work, thats why its an automatic transmission lol

no, it wont make that much of a difference, and its not that good for your tranny to do that a bunch

just let the car shift on its own or get a shift kit or get a manual car

your tranny can't handle manual shifts... so don't stress it.... the AODE isn't built for it.

I havent had to search for a shift kit for any fords yet (( 5 speed all the way baby)) but if i had to take a gander
I would look into one of these..Fords towards the bottom
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0002_747997_-1

Or hit jegs or B & M and search for a shift kit.
I did one of these in a 700r4 in a camaro and what a world of difference.
There is two ways to install your shift kits or shoulld I say two power options.

Edit::
I wouldnt recommend attempting this unless your very mechanically inclined ,and have some good tools or some friends who would help ya.Give yourself a few days for confusion and errors!!.
Make sure if you do it you set the linkage back up the same way ya took it off.
