it's because he knows you'll win from a dig. Tell him to run a real race.... from a dig. A roll race takes barely any skill.

True dat, I dont believe in rolls. It was actually the first race I've had with my car. Those evo's are pretty quick though, he is all stock except a little bit of exhaust work. I thought that AWD would school me from a dig though. You dont think it wouldn't?

RE: dig or roll
well I raced a ls1 from a dig, and he got me by 1 car by the time we hit 3rd... but then i was edgin back up to about the middle of his door when we ran out of road... he has an auto with a shift kit.. I was pretty pleased though considering his power advantage and shift kit /programmer... however from a roll I have a much better chance of taking him, in the mid range anyway.. once we get around 80-100 his power advantage comes back in.

RE: dig or roll
if u have good tires from a dig is the best place for a stang to race, but if u got a sn95 cobra or a 4 valve swap the roll is the best place to race, ifu have a gt a dig
simple as that

RE: dig or roll
Dig FTW. I used to hate Mustangs back when I raced old Chevys because they were always factory geared 3.xx or higher in the rear AND in the tranny. Lets take my Nova for instance; 400~ Motor torque, weighed in at 3,120 "dry", 2.74:1 1st gear & 2.56:1 rear gear (lame I know). A New Edge would tear my **** out of the hole and for 1/2 the quarter run because I was up against serious gearing compared to my set-up i.e.; 3.35:1 first and 3.27 rear. From a Roll, the New Edge was at a way bigger disadvantage when gearing was a little more balanced and the motor was able to take over (I won 99% of all races with that car AFTER half of the quarter cause of those damn 2.56 rear gears, I would shift into 3rd (1:1, like our 4th) at 115MPH). Let the Mustangs middle-of-the-spectrum wieght and numerically high gearing help you all it can.

A lot of you guys say mustangs are really good from a roll, but I have been experimenting and just started to race just a couple friends of mine and it seems like I do way better from a dig. Are mustangs better from a dig generally or from a roll for you guys?

I have outrun more people with faster cars than me from a dig than I can count, simply by being able to launch.

RE: dig or roll
From the intro of the 5.0L HO, Mustangs have been known for being quick, not necessarily fast, but quick. The Mustang owned the F-bodies because of this, even though they had less power and had difficulty which "roll-races." That tradition has pretty much continued.
When can you use that 60-120 acceleration, really? 0-80 is much more useful.
Unlike other important matters, it's all about getting out of the hole.
