I'm just asking because as a former camaro owner I had problems with all these parts. The car was a 2000 with only 52,000 miles on it when I sold and had major problems. Compressor went out twice within 3 years, motor to power windors twice, radio stopped ejected cds, and transmission blew early. I never even dogged out the car either.

The new edge Mustangs are the 1999-2004 Mustangs. I'm pretty sure the engines are all 4.6l SOHC motors but I know for a fact that the 1999-mid 2001 GT's had T-45 transmissions, while the mid 2001-2004 had the 3650 transmissions. I'm not sure, but I think the T-45's were more reliable.
As for the engines, not much of a difference besides the plastic intake plenums on the 1999-2000 cars. Plus there were tons of small changes throughout the car starting 2001, such as smoked headlights, spoilers, and lots of options. But no major differences in the drivetrain besides the transmissions.
I'm not sure which year was most reliable, but I'd put my money on 2004, just because it's the last year they made them, and there probably was less problems than 1999.

Wow. I never had any problems with my window motors, but they have recently been making a thump-scratchy sound when pulling them up or down. I gotta check it out.

If you had to compare the 2000-02 ls1 engines and transmissions to new edge mustangs is their any advantage in reliability to the other?

If you asked "Is a honda civic more reliable than a Toyota Corolla?" Well, their deffinately on the same platform, it just depends on the previous owner.
1 owner cars with all service records FTW!!!

I definitely have to admit the Mach Stereo sytem destroys that Moonson crap the Camaro had. Man, I got to a point where I just wanted to hear the exhaust versus any music in that car. I was too cheap to get any aftermarket radio for that car, but I should have.
