I just hope the ac compressors are more reliable in these stangs versus the Camaro because down here in Louisiana the summers are no joke and the humidity is a killer.

If your looking for a reliable car that will last a long time stay away from F-bodys

The engine is pretty good and can easily make more horsepower before breaking, but everything else on the car falls apart. My buddies 00 with like 30K on the clock shakes and rattles like crazy, as does every LS1 car I have been in with any miles on it.

The only thing I see alot of people go thru is the manual tranmissions (including me). They are ok unless you beat on them, at which point its only a matter of time.

2000s hands down. Really the T-45s arnt nearly as strong as the 3650s, but I honestly like it more than the 3650 that the mach 1 had in it. I have ran this little T45 to hell and back and it still operates like it was brand new. Whereas the 3650 in the mach had only 20K and had already been rebuiltonce by ford by the previous owner and still grinded 2nd occasionally. Honestly with 99-04s there is no more dependable or more reliable model. Some are lemons- some make it to 250,000 miles with no major problems. Its all in the care that is taken towards the vehicle, and how abused it gets through its life.

The previous owner of my 2002 had the 6CD head unit replaced twice, but nothing else. That was the only service history on the car Ford could find. Since I have owned it, I have had the tranny rebuilt twice, then finally replaced.

How many miles does your car have on it. I am at 62,000 and i have had no problems with my transmission.
