Which year of the new edge stangs are the most reliable?
I was just wondering which year of the new edge stangs are the most reliable. Isn't their like two type of engines through these years? Which transmission is more durable? Basically, what year has the best drive train ratings?

The new edge, 99-04, have virutally identical engine assemblys, both are equally relaible.
The 99, 00, and some 01 cars have the T-45 transmission which has weak syncs. The 3650 is better in this respect, but some have trouble shifting them till they get warm.
From a breakdown standpoint everything but the trans is virtually the same (stock)

Right before i bought my 03 my dad found an article in this magazine that said the 03s had the worst engine reliability but idk..... I wouldnt worry about the year, just who had the car before you.

I would think that an accurate average wouldn't be possible because it would rely solely on the operator and their driving style, not nesessarily the parts.

The new edge Mustangs are the 1999-2004 Mustangs. I'm pretty sure the engines are all 4.6l SOHC motors but I know for a fact that the 1999-mid 2001 GT's had T-45 transmissions, while the mid 2001-2004 had the 3650 transmissions. I'm not sure, but I think the T-45's were more reliable.
As for the engines, not much of a difference besides the plastic intake plenums on the 1999-2000 cars. Plus there were tons of small changes throughout the car starting 2001, such as smoked headlights, spoilers, and lots of options. But no major differences in the drivetrain besides the transmissions.
I'm not sure which year was most reliable, but I'd put my money on 2004, just because it's the last year they made them, and there probably was less problems than 1999.
