how hard is it
My car does the same thing once in while. It is very anoying. It is deff the tensioner. I thought mine was the only one that did that. I checked at the dealer they are $54.00. As soon as I get my UD pulleys I am changing mine.

I dont know,, all that I know is it is louder than hell. to the point where you can hear my car coming for more reasons than just the exhaust..
it did it earlier in the summer, then stopped for awhile, and had picked back up
*by the way, put the car up OFFICIALLY today* :-(

Just throwing a +1 to the idler pulley on the tensioner being the problem most likely... Had to replace mine a little while ago when the bearings went out in there... You really can't go wrong if you already have the replacement part(s) and just go at doing the job. It is just that easy. The only thing that is hard is putting the new belt on there if you have underdrive pulleys... I sweat my @$$ off (was summer time) and about put an eye out while doing mine
when the crow's foot that I was using to hold back on the tensioner was let go of by someone that was helping me. That thing shot at me so fast that I didn't even know what hit me...

yea i already have the part. i inspected the belt n thats fine but when i do this change i will just do the new belt too. it will idle high then drop then go up again and i notice it dose that when the tensioner moves up n down. so its just a bolt and it comes of and swap in the new one huh
