Chip and sensor for key is acting wierd

Chip and sensor for key is acting wierd
Ionly have one key for my 96'mustang and it has a chip inside of it. For about a month now the sensor in the ignition isn't reconizing itsome of the time. Ifanyone had this experiance orknows something about this help me out. Is it thechip in the key or the sensor in the ignition?
