Default Speedo gone

My speedo goes wacky now. I replaced my speedo sensor and it still doesn't work. I have fixed my alternator problem and now that is my only problem. It works but instead of just staying at 30 when I am going 30 mph, it jumps around 30 by about 5 mph each way.

What could this be? Could it possible be my speedo gear inside the gauge cluster? I will eventually be replacing the cluster with a mach cluster if possible but I would like to have it stay in one place till then. My cat back and gears are my priority and I want to avoid paying $200 for a cluster.

On an old school car that usualy would happen when the speedo cable went dead. I'm not sure if these NE Mustangs have cables, or if its all digital. If they do have a cable, I would start there, its usualy only a few bucks to replace.

They have speedo sensors in the tranny. I replaced that but it is still doing it.

If I replaced the cluster could that fix it? It is only the speedometer. All the other gauges work fine. I have replaced the speedo sensor and that didn't work. Could it simply be the cluster?

yea that might be it. I had the same problem in my fox body, and it was the cluster.
