Default 4V heads on GT Block.

I was reading the Sean Hyland Motorsport book on Building 4.6L Ford Engines. In there, it says that in order to fit DOHC heads on a SOHC block you must do "simple modifications". Does anyone know that those simple mods are?

Well to put my 2V heads on my 4V block i had to drill a coolant passage in the block that the 2V has and the 4V doesn't so i guess you would have to plug that...each year has its special differences that need to be addressed. I also had to get a timing cover from a 94-95 4.6 T-bird.

You need timing cover, wireing harness, computer, instument cluster and key and a few other small things.

the modifications are: of course the 4v heads, the 4v intake(plus full induction system), misc. gaskets, whatever hoses you may need, and most if not all cam timing pieces, there may be more, im sure there is more odds and ends buti think thats the major stuff

I saw it on page 8. It's on the upper right hand corner.

Ok cool. So pretty much if I get my hands on a set of 4V heads, they should bolt up to the block? Also, what about interanls?

i wouldbelieve internals would be fine but it'd probably mess with compression i don't know if anything else may happen, as far as the block matching the heads i've heard that they will bolt up but i've also heard that some modifications are required, im suprised it doesn't say what modifications are needed in the sean hyland book though instead of just stated the true obvious "some modification will be needed" hah
