Default filler neck gasket help

Im trying to replace the gromet that conects the filler neck to tank. Do i have to drop the tank to replace it?

Well ,,I just did this very thing....installed my 255 pump and reinstalled the tank,,only to rip the old groumet..ordered one from ford,,13 bucks ...and yes,on my 99 I had to drop the tank again..I couldn'tsee any other way to do it...I thoughtand looked tryin to figure out a way and in the end ,,dropped the tank AGAIN....it only took me about30 mintues to r&r the tank again anyway....but ,,,I feel you pain....[:@]

yep, $31 from Ford dealership. Thanks though i did have to drop the tank, just filled up and the leak is gone

had a bad experience with mine too. thought i could get away with it, and i didnt. hole in my driveway now because of the leak. its ****ty how they changed that grommit for the 99+ because I had ordered the wrong one which is why i left it alone when the 99+ one came in.

i replaced mine on a 98 and did NOT drop the tank. it is a mother but allot easier than dropping the tank. its a 2 man job but just loosen the tank straps and it will go its not easy though
