i have 40 series flowmasters and a stock h pipe with gutted cats
Could that be the reason...I have an o/r H and it smokes a lot more now that my cats are gone
I think so, mine has done the same since I put my o/r x pipe on....

I have a 96' GT and i had the same exact problem. After being at an idle and then accelorate a ball of white smoke shoots out. What I did was get that "Restore" product for oil treatment after an oil change and that worked wonders for me. I use the same stuff everyother oil change. It's at discount Auto.

Yes do a compression check to find out which cyl is low then close the valves to that cyl (by turning the engine) and pressurize the cyl with air. If you can hear the air getting out through the PCV system then it is your rings, If you hear it in the throttle body then its valve seals. If you have 2 cyl next to each other with low compression and you can hear the air coming out of one of the sparkplug holes then its a blown headgasket thats blown near an oil passage.

yea it does it hot or cold day so that sucks i guess i gotta get pi heads than
If you are losing that much oil and it smokes when you say then it sounds like you have broken ring lands and your cyl wall are done. That smoke you see is blue. Have your buddy park behind you at night with his lights on and rev it up you will see through the light that the smoke is actuall blue. You need to do a compression check and stay ontop the oil consumption or your going to spin bearings.
sounds about right. either that or the valve guides. either of which are not good, especially if you want to run nitrous. i wouldnt. save the money and either get yourself a junkyard PI motor or rebuild this one. either way, it sounds like its shot
