Master bearing kit with under 8k????
I just got my 4.10s from brenspeed and i was talking to the guy thats gonna install them and he told me i need to get a master bearing kit. I realize he knows more than me about gear installs but my car only has about 7600 miles and i just wouldnt think i would need new bearings ect. Is it because hes gonna ruin the existing ones getting them out or what? Any insight would help me understand thanks

Yeah, you definitely SHOULDN'T need them. I know the shop that I'm going to will install individual bearings only if they need it, that way you save the money over the entire kit. From what I've always heard it's something like if you're over 75k you probably want to change them. I can't imagine your car needs them.

It depends how he gets them off. If he uses a press, he will ruin the pinion bearing, but there are seporators that dont ruin it and you can reuse the old pinion bearing. the carrier bearings dont need to be messed with. I just did my install and reused every bearing except the rear pinion bearing, the one thats pressed on.

Ya i dont know if i would consider it "cheap insurance" considering i have such low miles but i would imagine he will ruin them when taking it off and thats why i would need the bearings. Thats all i can think of.

It's cheap insurance when you consider how bad those bearings can fubar your differential. Many shops will NOT do a gear install without them.
IMO, if you can't afford the bearings, you shouldn't be modifying your car. It's simply stupid to not do them.

You will still need a new crush sleeve, carrier shims, pinion shims,..unless your just gonna use the ORIGINAL,,,,which usually isn't that close...recommend a pinion seal along with a new pinion nut....and unless you has the tool to remove the big pinion bearing without damage,,one of them(and a race)...Really just alot easier to have ALL the parts that MAY be necessary or may not,,,,there with you instead of trying to hunt them down individaly...
