Does anyone knopw if there is something I can buy to flash my computer aside from taking it to the dealership? IE: a programmer or something?

whats wrong with your car where you need to reflash it?

 

I am getting a 99 Cobra dash cluster in the mail shortly... what brand Tuner? And does it re-flash the computer to reset everything like the dealership?

 

No you should bring it in to a Ford dealer. I'm a Ford technician and i've done that before. We just hook up the IDS laptop and VCM to the old cluster, suck the info out of that one and reflash it onto the new cluster.

 

I may need it in the future... you never know! I would prefer to not take it to the dealership.

Well the PATS info for the chip in the key is stored in the cluster.... installing a different cluster will result in the car not starting, which is why I will need the computer to be flashed!
