Default What was Ford thinking 94-98?

I am seriously thinking about ditching this 98 I just got and going with a 99-04. I mean 215 hp? Thats kind of embarrasing. I was just looking around and the V6 Camaros during this time had that kinda power while the Z28s were putting out 275-285 hp. We get the last laugh I suppose as the Camaro went under and the Mustang didnt but seriously, what was Ford thinking?

You should've realized this before you bought the car. Underpowered and not very attractive? Dark times for the Mustang in 94-98. Not ugly cars it's just they look like a plastic toy, no defined lines.

Hey your car has 225 hp because of that exhaust porting they did

They were inline with the power of the era, onlt the Camaro really had more power except for a few expensive imports with power adders. Your talking about cars that are now 8-12 years old.

94/95 isnt all that bad, IMO because they still had the 5.0 which has TONS of bolt on stuff. Now 96-98 was a joke though. My buddy (years ago) bought a brand new 97GT 5spd. That thing couldnt even spin the tires from a 5000 rpm dump. I kinda like that body style, especially with teh Saleen body kit. But youre right, theyre are VERY underpowered.

Your buddy needs to turn the traction control off. Those cars are underpowered but lets not get carried away. They make 290 tq which is good enough to spin them[8D]

All they need is a PI swap and they're right there with the 99-04's. I don't see the big deal.

Big deal is 2v's can't make big HP NA. They make HP with FI just like any other motor, sure takes a lot of money too.

If you have a good sized budget and don't mind rebuilding the engine & finding a stronger transmission, then sure the 94-98 is a great platform because they can be purchased for so cheap - but for your average budget owner it's about one of the worst cars you can modify N/A & get results. Oh well.
