Default Will changing the transmission fluid make a differance.

I know changing my transmission fluid will make a differance will alot of things, but my question is, should I change my fluid to see if this will help with my grinding gears and 2nd popping out, before actually rebuilding my tranny? Also what is a good fluid brand to put in?
-Thank you.

changing the fluid might make it worse, i wouldnt unless its really burnt or smells really bad. if the fluid hasnt been changed since you had the car , it will tend to build a varnish on the parts and if you add new fluid it will clean those deposits off which could make it slip and grind more.
