Just wondering : car alarm

RE: Just wondering : car alarm
I dont know about other years, but my 97 has passive theft. All that is is if you lock the doors, the system arms after a few seconds. Then, if you open a door with the inside handle without unlocking the doors first, the alarm (horn and lights) will go off. Also, it the tunk lock is removed/medded with when the alarm is "armed" then it will go off.
Best advice...read your flipin owners manual. That's where I found out how mine works.

RE: Just wondering : car alarm
i have this red LED light on the left side of my steering wheel, i was pretty sure its for a alarm system a previous owner had but i assumed it didnt work. flashforward to a few weeks ago, me and my buddy are hanging out and i press the lock button twice and then the unlock real fast and it started beeping and going crazy. im like WTF and press the panic button and it comes on too. so aparently i have a aftermarket alarm system on this car, is there any way to test it to see if it works? should i try the window down lock the doors and open it from the inside?

O..then why does it beep? Is it just to let me know it locked lol?

And some people use that feature to help find their car in a crowded parking lot, although the range is pretty limited
