Default Gas milage problem...

So on sunday of this week i filled up my car and drove it around a little, by tuesday i had gone only 56 miles and was at a half a tank. That can't be right, anyone have any idea why this is happening? i am not flooring it everywhere either.

you might want to check your vacuum hoses, if you have a leak in one of them, it will start to run rich.

Could be that your gas tank measure thing, haha... isn't working right. Like my car will be at 150 miles at 1/2 tank on the trip, and the other half is all the way down at 200-220... do this, fill your car up drive around normally (no gunnin it)then when it gets to that 1/2 way mark, fill it up again and divide the number of miles you have driven by the number of gallons of gas you put in, and it'll give you your MPG... that's what you need to find out to see if you really have a problem. I had a full bolt on GT with 3.90's, and I was getting 17-18mph city, and 20-22mpg hwy, when I drove it normal.

Unless you have a really rich tune, or really bad spark plugs (when I changed mine it put my mpg up 1-2mpg, haha), or a really dirty air filter... I would say its just your gas tank and that the measuring device isnt working properly, but i still havent ever seen a car that has had one that works 100% haha...

Ok i will try that, ya my airfilter should be fine, its pretty much brand new (few months old) and also i wanna say it is running rich cuz i can always smell gas when i get out of my car after it has been running. Should i get someone to take a look at my vaccume hoses? and if its the dam measuring thing should i just blow this off? lol

you can look at your hoses yourself. basically all you have to do is squeeze them and check the pressure on them.

just the piping that comes off of your engine, that connect to the picking for your air intake, carborator, etc.
