Default mongoose?

What exactly is the Mongoose kit? I hear a lot about it. Whats the difference between it and a regular Vortech? Pro's Cons?

The Mongoose Kit is a complete kit that MPH sells (Modular Power House). When it says complete, its complete.. it comes with the Vortech, fuel upgrades, spark plugs, every part you need to install and safely run it. It also comes with an SCT Xcal2 loaded with a mail order tune. The kit is right around $3800, so you can get evrything you need for under $4000 to your door.

That actually sounds like a really good deal. What type of Vortech is it? Also, is it intercooled? And since you said it comes with an SCT xCal, if I wanted to have it retuned to make sure its PERFECT could I bring it into a shop and let them use that xcal and rewrite a tune for it instead of using their tune?

You can have the car retuned with the sct but you won't have to.. the best part about the mongoose kit is that you get a tune from Tim and MPH.

The tune isn't a "mail order" tune, its a custom tune, the only difference is they don't put your car on a dyno an check it for you (you have to do this yourself, unless you want to drive there and then they will do it). If you get on your local dyno and the tune is off tim will work with you over the phone and via internet to get you dialed in.

just FYI, with a full boltons + n/a cams car (harder to tune w/ cams)my tune was dead on without any tweaking. MPH simply knows wtf they are doing when tuning 2v cars. IMO they are the best FI tuner in the world for the 4.6L 2v.

When I had my car tuned by Tim, he loaded the tune made one run that saw about 355 rwhp then did one thing and it went to 376. He really is one of the best tuners.

JMS had a good rep. I bought my kit from them and have been pleased. I'm just having some issues with my belt fitment. Which I was told was not uncommon with prochargers. I have to go from a 108" to a 107" belt. The 108" was slipping a bit.
