didn't the 99-01 cobra engines have 320hp and 320tq, i know the 96-98 had 305hp and i think 300tq. But it's not really sad they did that, it was more like they were just throwing another engine option like they did back in the late 60's early 70's, because if you wanted a 4v but not a full out s/ced 4v you could downgrade to the mach1.

Lol... downgrade to the mach1, that strikes me as awkward. Would you like the lamborghini mercielago? No thanks, ill take the downgraded, cheaper, ****tier Gallardo, thank you.

The Mach 1 is faster since it it's a bit lighter because it has a solid rear axle. The Cobra is also harder to launch because of the IRS.
Isn't it a live rear axle, or are those the same thing? I thought solid rear axle was in trucks and the Mustang GTs/Machs have live rear axle which means they move at the center point, whereas a solid axle moves as one big piece (why trucks are so bumpy).

The mach1 engineis not the same as the01 cobra... do a search here, as someone already posted up the differences in another thread. Basically, different cams, different cyl. heads, more compression, solid axle, 3.55's

My apologies it was a typo. You are correct. You know what I meant

The Mach 1's have forged cranks. I dont think the 01 Cobras do, does anyone know?

ORIGINAL: 203Mach1ne

Machs come with 3.55 gears
Cobras come with 3.27 gears

So the Mach is a little bit faster stock vs stock
The small amount of difference in gear ratio will make almost no difference in its 1/4 mile times. The two cars are verrrrrry similar in performance. To me it comes down to whether you like a straight axle or IRS.

Machs seem to run a little better stock vs stock tho..

Also the 5 speed machs have forged cranks, the autos do not.

Machs have higher compression, lightning cams, etc, theyre also underrated. Stock v stock Mach > Cobra, but they are close. The plus side is teh cobra's are handbuilt :-p Also I believe the 99 cobra has an iron block, machs are aluminum :-p (Didnt I read somewhere that cobras all have 3.55s? or is the just 03-04 Cobras)
