I have been thinking of going to the pypes catted X here in Sac since the cats are CARB legal. I would love for the car to pass the sniffer with them. I do not have the place or ability or tools to change out the pipes every other year.

Just throw mil eliminators and hollow out some cats. They'll never be able to tell even when they inspect it, unless CA has the sniffer test, then they will pass right out!.lol All in all, your only going to gain maybe, just maybe 5hp by going to an O/R pipe vs. High flow cats! Don't listen to what anuone else tells you! 5hp. The biggest diff is when you get up in the 500hp region, then you'll lose more obviously! I would stick with a high flow cat X-pipe or an O/R H-pipe!

I would just go with a high flow catted mid pipe. Its not going to quiet it down a whole lot and when it comes time to smog every other year you won't have to worry about swapping back to the stock one to pass. Just my .02 But since you already have the O/R one just throw it on..

How many of you CA guys have one, what kind do you have, how much attention does it draw (is it TOO loud?) and how long have you gotten away with it?
I don't mean to be a dick, but this is what I need to know....

I live in the East Bay and I have a bassani O/R x with flows and I have yet to have any problems. It is sick loud, prolly one of the loudest cars I've heard around (definately a head turner), and as long as you don't floor it around town there really isnt a way to tell you arent runnin cats. I've had cops behind me from stop lights and what i typically do is just start it in second and short shift through the gears to keep the rpms down.

I figure that me changing out a mid pipe for an hrevery 2 years for an emissions test is well worth the power and sound that results.

Hope that helps.

Cops tend to pull over imports for not having cats more than they would a Mustang. A Mustang is almost expected to be loud or have some kind of exhaust tone. Unless you have a dramatic *** exotic sounding set up (I.E. LM1's & SLP O/R X), then you shouldn't worry too much. You should be coo with your set up. Now hurry up and throw that Mid Pipe on!

Ok, let's try this....

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being with the stock mid pipe and 10 being with the off road h pipe in terms of loudness, where would a high flow catted h pipe fall?
