Default How do you do a stand still burnout?

I got a 5-speed and was wondering how do you do a smoke show burnout. I've never really tried it. I remember in my mark viii i would just brake and gas it but on manuals i'm not quite sure how to. Do i keep it in first or 2nd?

unless you've got gears you wanna do it in 1st gear, just rev it up, dump the clutch then hit the brakes just enough to keep you from moving. you can try it in 2nd if you like, if you can get the revs up and hold it in 2nd your burnout will be much smokier

I just like to slowly take off then once my clutch has been fully released get on the brake right away and keep the revvs up. That way it isnt so hard on your clutch and u still get a nice burnout.

Easiest way to do it is
put your left foot on the clutch and keep it in gear
right foot halfway on the brake and you should be able to twist your ankle a bit so you can hit the gas with the other half of the foot

push the brake down a bit and rev it up to around 3500 and let out the clutch
push the brake down harder and keep it revvin around 4000-5500ish

I do mine in second gear, but I also have steep gears for my Fox's T5

Look in the summit catalog they have an SLP line lock for $120, get it and save your back brakes!

Yeah, I wanna get a line lock installed, but what MD and Ob said are right.

The burn out in my sig is with my foot on the brake. After a few of those you can smell burning brake pads big time when you get back in the pits. My speed shop said I need a special line lock for anti-lock brakes and traction control, they wanted over $300 plus, but I found one compatible in Summit for the $120 and it works great.
