Default Belt question

Don't flame me. But

My wifes car, (2001 Ford Taurus SES with 3.0L V6) belt is squeaking like crazy. WD 40 didnt seem to do a whole lot. Should I A)wd40 the actual pulleys, b)replace belt c)belt grease or d)something else. Thanks

Default RE: Belt question

Is the belt tensior working ie the belt tight enough, are there any charging problems causing the whine?

electrical seems fine, all stock sound system, no dimming lights etc. Motor sounds fine other than the squeaking belt. Not sure about the tensioner though

Weird check the tensior, does it sound like bearing squeak or belt and it does it constant or just when you gas it? How does the belt look?

constant squeak, belt looks good (no cracks, etc)... I dont even see a tensioner (her engine is sideways and the radiator resevoir is in the way). It squeaks more when its colder (outside temp) but doesnt always go away once the engine has heated up

spray some wd-40 on the belt that is making the noise if you have not already if it goes away then the belt will need to be replaced, I'm still thinking of other things you could do... also there is a belt tensior on those motors I'm just not sure where it could be shot or if it is adjustable it might need to be adjusted..
