i knew someone that had gears installed, the installer said drive home but don't beat on the gears, by the time you get home, let them cool, next day they will be fine. well he said sure, got into his call, lit the tires up going side ways. about half way home, started hearing noises and crap, well i guess when he got on it so hard it blew the pinion seal and all the fluid came out, the gears were toasted. he called the installer but he said to bad and hung up on him.
Drive easy and that doesn't mean do 30mph in a 65 and granny it. but drive easy for atleast a few hundred miles. for me, it's atleast 100 miles and then i get on it with no problems in my past mustangs. i can't wait to get my 4.10s in this car.

already got a mgw short throw. so all this driving is just to make sure its done right. the gears dont actually need the 200 miles?

Do the heat cycles or just drive it for about a week or so gently and then get on her.

so i got 115 miles on it and i did the first 50 miles in 20 min. heat cycles and let it sit for an hour in between them. but i gotta race a dude at the track tomorrow morning. do u think that many heat cycles and miles is good enough? there is no noise or anything and they feel good and smooth. so can i bang 'em now?
