Default D/R and rim question

Hey, what height tire do I need to buy? 26in or 28 in?

I'm gonna get a Weld Prostar 15x10 with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. What size backspacing do I need?

I'm thinking 295's for the 10in rim. Ok?

Those wheels are 15" right? Well a 26" tire will put you close to stock height so the speedo will stay very close and they will have less sidewall so handling will be a bit better. The 28" will drop the gearing in effect about .30 so if you had stock 3.27's you would have in effect 3.00's. Or if you had 4.10's they would act more like 3.80's, you get the idea. Your speedo would read slower than you would actually be going without correction. Also more sidewall for more flex and that is better for launching, not as good for curves.
Those wheels are amazingly light aren't they? I picked one up the exact size you want and I think it was around 15lbs.! I was tempted to get side exit exhaust and remove the quad shocks and go with a 12" wide wheel and WOW for rear tires, maybe a 345 or whatever is available way out there if any. 295 would be a good choice for a 10".
By the way they had those Welds really discounted to get them off the shelf, not sure they are still there but maybe $160. a set? mark

Stick with the 26" tire for the track. Backspacing should be 6.5" for the 10" rim. What DR are you looking at? I really like a bias-ply tire much better for a 5-speed car. My Hoosier Quick Time Pro's are awesome compared to the M/T or BFG drag radial. I know, I've have them all[8D]Oh. and I run a 295x50x15 on the street after the racing season..... both on 8" wheels

I was looking at some used BFG's 275/50/15's from a buddy just for now. When I go new, I'll be sure to look at the Hoosier.
