Default Gear Question that I need some opinions on

Ok, so as some may or may not know I had my rear end go out on me the other day. Bearings are trashed, gears are trashed, carrier needs a rebulid. I had motive 4.10s in there and they whine but the install was also botched (bolts were loose, some were missing, ect.) My question is should I buy Motive gears again or do you should I buy Ford Racing gears or some other brand (insert suggestion here). Another question I have is would the traction lock rebulid that comes with the carbon discs(these were found in the 03/04 Cobras and the 07 GT500) fit a GT traction lock. I would imagine there is no difference between them since they are the same carrier. Thanks for any help

personally i would go with the FRPPs cuz i have only heard one or two bad things about them. The motives i have heard mixed feelings and I think you have to get lucky with them for them to work good. Some people may swear by motives and others swear by FRPPs. But this time make sure, whatever brand you get, that they are installed correctly. good luck

I've got motives,,and very happy,,but I've used them several times befoer in others vehicles...richmonds are a good gear but maketoo muchnoise for street cars...
can't say about FRPP gears,,never used them...but alot say the install setup is easier to get right ...

Well do either of you two have any whine issues with them? I had some whining issues but It was probably associated with the botched install. Any more imput from anyone?

Get an eaton rear end. It has four clutches instead of the three normally on our cars.

Wish I could, on a kinda tight budget with it. I am plan on rebuilding with the cobra traction lock clutches and not the normal

All 8.8 rearends are the same, car or truck! The carier has no diff other than the spring compression for added trct. lock. Any rebuild kit will work. As for the gears I just went through this and ordered up Ford gears because they say the install is a breeze compared to those china versions. I called a few places and they said they didn't want to install certain types of gears, or they wanted more money because they take more time. I wanted 3:90's but Ford doesn't make them, motive does. I went with 3:73's because it's a bop around in car and not a track set-up so the 4:10's woulda been overkill. Also they said that alot of times the noise or whing from the cheaper gears is caused by being crooked machined. Millithousandths I'm sure, but it makes a diff. I have stuck with Ford when I wasn't sure and have been happy everytime!
