Default turbocharger fabrication

was just surfing around online and ran into a guy with an 02 camaro that bought a holset turbo off ebay an did a custom fit on his car. is this a lot harder than it sounds. he claimed he got it all on there for under a thousand dollars. anybody ever custom fabricated their own turbo set up.

Someone just did, but if you need to be asking if its a lot of work and what to do; fabricating your own turbo kit is not for you. There's a lot invovled..

turbos are bad news for stock internals... people learn sooner or later. I love turbos, but i am not the monopoly man so for my car right now.. im running a s/c and n20 when the internals are done...

f bodys are easy to fab that up. i was searching around on ls1 tech awhileago and came across. the exhaust manifolds on the des. will fit the ls1 block. therefore take the stock turbo route some piping and boom your f body is turbocharged. but. ls1's cannot take more than 8psi i belive.
