I'd haggle that price down a bit.. heavily crash damaged cars can be a neverending nightmare.. My '86 GT was smashed hard into the rear by a kid driving mommies minivan. The car *just* squeaked past being written off, and the bodyshop appeared to have fixed the external damage pretty well. But, ever since that day the car didn't feel "right" anymore[:@] even driving down the highway there'd be slight wind whistling noises around the driver door etc,,,

Check that Cobra out GOOD before making a move on it

When cars made substeintal frame dammage the car is NEVER THE SAME. My cousin almost totaled his brande new monte carlo after he got i back from the repair shop, 6 weeks later the car appeared fine. But it would return to the show 7 or 8 times for electrical problems. I would never suggest purchansing a salvage titled vehcile. Unless its a HELL of a deal or your goin to be using the car as a drag/race car and plan on replacing major components.

thats waaay to high for a salvage title car. He would be lucky to get 10 out of it most places.. salvage titles kill the value completely... Might still be a nice car, but you will never even get close to seeing a return on your investment if you sell it sometime in the near future.
+1----> If you buy it plan on keeping it unless you can "wash" the title. The car will probably bring more money as a parts car than a whole car when you want to sell it

Well, it will certainly stay with me for a while. I don't plan on ever selling it, but I won't promise anything. And It will also be a weekend/fun car. It won't be a DD. I might take it out on special occasions, or if I wanna have some fun, but other than that, it will be resting

offer 12-14 k tops. Salvage title will destroy value car and get the frame checked out like the others said. 17k is way too high for that car.

I beg to differ... 17k is a great price! The motor alone sells for at least 10k on eBay! not to mention the rest of it, drive train, wheels, seats, cluster, tranny, etc. etc. You will always be able to at least part it out for 17k! Offer 15k, take it to a body shop and have it checked out... or look at it, look at the body lines, see if it all matches up ok, check how the doors and trunk line up and close...

i wouldnt pay more than 5k for a car with a salvaged title... even if it is a cobra. why not find a totaled cobra and swap the drivetrain into your car?
