I'm about to go to Houston Raceway park. (first time at track). And I have a damn check engine light. Has anybody here raced with a light? Mine is a damn evap code! SHould i run it anyway?

i had the light come on during a burnout one time and i just backed it out and parked till we found out what was wrong with it. it ended up being too lean.... glad i didn't run it...

what exactly is the evap code??

I have no idea!!!! I've been tying to find out. The only thing I know is that it is relate to the fule system and a few ppl told me it was related to my gas cap?

what is the code?? i will see if i can help out and do some research on it.

i know there is a code in the expeditions that is for that. has something to do with the gas cap not being on completly. its loosing pressure so it throws the check engine light. fiddle around with your gas cap while the car is off and then see if the light goes away.

Yeah, about losing pressure in the tank. I know when I drive other cars to E. And take off the cap they will hiss. Mine dose'nt hiss. Nothing, no pressure or anything.

My check engine light came on once I swapt my exhaust. I needed eliminators to fix it. I'm not sure what the code is but would advise finding out what it means before I take it out.

It wont hiss. lol. I know what youre talking about. Dont run youre pony to "e" either. Dont over fill it either or you'll get the same EVAP code. Run it with the light on. EVAP is ****, wont hurt you. I ran mine rich, then got it tuned. I ran .2 second better. But i also got a chip. Who knows. I took care of that though. Maybe you have a bad gas cap. They are common on fords. Go figure

YEA, I took it out anyway. Ran a freaking 15.3 at 92 mph. [:'(] My 60' was like 2.5.


Ne ways tell me if this sounds wierd. I raced my friend with a gtp and he won running a 14.5. BUT, on the way home I smoked him 3 times from 50 to 120????? Anybody know whats up with that! I started walking on him from the beging and never stoped untill I let off.?????
