Default Need help on Rev limitors?????

I want to install a rev limiter on my '97gt. There's no reason the car needs to see life past 6grand whether it is by accident or when I bring it to the dyno place! I know they run cars up to atleast redline and I don't want that! Actually life can be stopped around 5800rpms. My question is do Ineed a special set-up because I have coil packs or will most work for my application. I know MSD makes a coil pack with a built in soft-touch rev limiter, but they are $250 each and I'm not trying to drop a dime like that! Also are these a Bitch to wire or fairly simple if your not a complete dumbass? I need some reccomendations!!!! Thanks

Right now your car is being limited by a factor fuel cut off. It is not a spark controlled rev limitor..... I tuner should be able to set the rev limitor to what ever you want.

Wow man thats stupid. you wont be getting proper oil circulation at 500rpm. My tuneer said 850 is the lowest he would go, b.c of the oil flow/pressure

My idle is at 700 with stock cam and is very smooth, but it all depends on wires, plugs and gas. I think I'll bump mine up to 800 with the swap and cams and set my rev-limiter at 5800! I know for a fact I won't have any power gains past 5400rpms.
