Default changing gears

I want to get gears soon and I have access to a shop with any tool I would need to install them myself, but I have never done it before. So is it hard to change gears or should I save up $320 just to have someone else do it?

I wouldn`t attempt it if you have no clue or you don`t have someone there that does. People say you can easily mess up the install. I would just pay someone. That way if they mess it up, they`ll have to do it over again until the job is done right. (jmo) Good luck.

Ive tried it twice, and screwed it up twice. Changing gears is without a doubt one of the most difficult instillations you can do. You have to have it shimmed just right, pinion angle has to be exact, etc. I consider myself fairly mechanically inclined, but gears is still too much for me to tackle.

If you have someone that knows how to do it, then i say go for it. If you're doing it by yourself and havent ever done it yet, I would take it to the shop. Its gonna save you a lot of money and headache in the long run.

yea i wouldnt install them myself either. If they are not installed right you can get alot of gear wine. Have it done by a pro. that way they have to fix it if it breaks like sprostang said

+1, it's a difficult job and if you mess up the gear whine in annoying as hell.
