LS2

RE: LS2
With spray 600 WHP should be no problem with a ported eaton cobra assembly + nitrous. Your only talking about running a 75 or so shot here. Some of the cobra guys run a 50 shot just to cool the intake charge! But we are completely dreaming here. Chances that he can acutally do and afford what we are talking about is nil.
In any case, come up with any motor swap you want with REALISTIC prices and I can beat it with a 2v build dollar for dollar up to about 600-650 WHP. You guys are so quick to discount the 2v, but with FI it can be a real monster. I think alot of you get disapointed with the bolton results... so skip the boltons and go right to FI!
T trim vortech kit:5000 bucks (T trim, big fuel system, 60 lb/hr injectors, DIY intecooleretc etc)
VT shortblock : 3500 bucks
MPH custom cams: 600
Valvesprings: 200
Tune: 500!
9800 bucks for a 600+ WHP car. Hell, MPH has acam/exhaust/novi2000 car making60x with mild tuning and 93 octane! Of course, just like a (mythical) LS1 swap or 4v swap your gonna need to adress the trans/rearend/exhaust, but your gonna need to do this either way (with any of the setups) and I guarentee at least the LS1 exhaust is gonna be ALOT more expensive. The same thing can be applied to the other swaps as well (fuel system, tune, etc etc will be needed with either swap).
The 2v is far from the ideal motor if you had any to pick from, but there is one BIG advantage to it: You already have the motor in the car. No custom fabbing is requried, and you don't have to buy an entire new motor/trans assembly right off the bat.
And +1 ZW99, we are on the same page. A LS1/LS2 swap is just silly.. it doesn't make since from a finacial or even logical point of view.... if nothing else, your talking about a freaking GM motor in a mustang... yuck.
Edit: I could be wrong here, but I think your a bit off with the 7.5K redline + 650 WHP in a stock LS1 rotating assembly. I have no personal experence with this situtaion, but I think the only result your gonna have is parts on the track.

Man I'm gonna have to say you have no idea. A pullied cobra will have NO problem beating a cam only LS1. While we are talking about blower upgrades, why dont we just throw the big boy in there? Whipple 3.2L on the Cobra would have NO problem with an H/C/I sprayed LS1.
Lets say in theory that a H/C/I LS1 will be 500rwhp. A cobra can hit that with a Eaton. Add on the 2.8L KB or the new 3.2L Whipple, it would go hp for hp and beyond with that same LS1 on spray.
May I direct you to this idea.

300 dollars for an 03 cobra engine, He would need everything to do the swap including computer, wiring harness etc etc. They are on ebay for usually around 6+ grand. 300 dollars [sm=bs.gif]LS1's go for $2500-3500.
A pulley swapped cobra would have a helluva time beating a cammed LS1
A KB 2.4 cobra wouldnt be able to take a h/c/i and sprayed LS1. Not too mention he will be spending 6 grand on a KB. H/C/I and spray for an LS1 ~ 3500
1500 horsepower is not streetable.

it all depends, there is a guy on this forum that got a terminator motor with 20000 mi. on it for 300 dollars. it all depends. plus with a pulley swap he will be faster than a camed ls1. then with a kb 2.4 swap he will be faster than a h/c/i and nitroused ls1. so think about that. its all being patient. and the cobra block can handle 1500 hp, thats over 2 times as much as an ls2. so thats another reason to consider that. plus it would be a mix bread, theres already enough of them in fox bodies, no need to have one in a new edge.

I think it would be cool, I would prolly do an LS1 swap with a H/C/I version for the money you would spend on an LS6. There would be alot of fabrication and wiring work but it would be cool. He can do an LS1 swap with a cam and some spray and make more power than he could with a terminator swap alone, and for the same or less money.

Whut do you guys think of an LS2 in a 99 GT?

So, if you're such a diehard Bowtie nut, what in Heaven's name are you doing here? Sell that car ( looks kinda ridiculous in that color anyway) and get yourself a 2002 Camaro SS... And I'll spank your ugly-catfish-drivin' behind up and down the strip.

RE: LS2
guess what - yea the ls1 can hld 500 rwhp or so - but not for long, even the cobras dont hold over 600 for very long (depends on beatings).. but the point is - it just be completely pointless to do a ls1 swap... the reason camaros stomp us off the line is the suspension, a built 4.6 can make more power than youll ever need on a street car... and get good mpg when not boost - I just dont see what you think youre gaining

RE: LS2
man do you even have your license yet? i remember back when you posted about how you "don't know how you even passed your permit!" LS2 is WAY to fast for any kid that hasn't even gotten his license yet. yeah going fast is fun but even i admit i wouldn't want something that fast for my age, too much chances to get into a wreck. but i'm with the other guy who posted earlier, go get your parents to buy you a camaro then, you can make a stang motor have as much streetable power as an LS2 anyways.

RE: LS2
i just hope you wouldn't be planning on using your parents money for this LS2 thing, you should be very happy with what you got right there, if my parents got me a 99GT and is giving me a corvette i wouldn't keep asking for something that i could kill myself with(even tho you can kill yourself pretty easy with a GT)..kinda selfish if ya ask me[>:], not trying to be mean but see it from the point of what you'd have if you parents made you buy your own car.
