Default installing headers

would you guys install headers and x pipe or have a shop do it? i've got acess to the navy's auto shop and a few friends willing to help, but man, if my local speed shop is telling me 6 hours; then it's going to take us 12?

what do i need to know before i tackle something so big?
thanks!

it is alot easier then it sounds. Took me and one friend 4 hours to do it our first time and the car was on jack stands. Here is a good site for you. http://www.fnsweet.com/garage/lt_install/index.shtml

my car is currently sitting on jackstands right now with the k member out. My headers just came in today. Took me roughly 4 hoursto get it apart taking my time. Im doing it by myself in a single car garage in 5 degree weather with no heat...lol Anyways, its not that bad at all. I would strongly recommend doing it yourself and save the money it would take for the install.

Good luck with the passenger side man. To make it easier to get in place jack the motor up a few inches. You will have to wiggle it around to get it in but it will go without removing the starter.

i jacked up the engine and still had to remove starter plus it gives you alot of room espesially when putting in the bolts on the bottom (starter is only 2 or 3 bolts) well worth the removale makes the job easier
