if you get all the parts new and do it yourself your looking at about $1000, with labor prices from a shop i'd say like $1500 unless someone will actually share the knowledge if they have done that before. Its a rather simple swap to do yourself anyway though. But yeah i see more riced out SN95's than the newer SN95's, but i see a boatload more of the newer SN95 than the original ones where i live. I guess it matters where your located, i know some guy on here once said about how there was like 20 ppl in his area with newer ones, so it depends on where ya live.

I say go for the '96-'98. New edges are all over the place. And if you do the PI swap, you'd suprise a lot of cars. People know they're dogs as it is. And you can get a '96 GT for less than $4,000 and the PI swap would cost between $600-$1,500.
You need to come here. I take a **** and see 189027 SN95 cars and a lot are riced out. You can drive this...

Or go SN and rock this bad boy

That car is hot!!! Ha ha... I see more New Edge SN95 Mustangs down here in Raleigh.

Us Charlotte folk must be "poorer"

Don't get me wrong there are a whole bunch of New Edges but I do see more SN95 cars. At least 95% of the time they're V6s. I hate when I see the dual exhaust and think GT and as soon as it takes off it sounds like complete *****....posers

do you mean $1500 total for install and all pi parts, or did you mean $1000 for part and $1500 for install
i'm sure you meant $1500 total, but i'm just double checking because someone told me that it cost about $2300 for instal and all the parts needed for the piswap.
and btw there are way more new edge mustang in houston, as far as i have seen.
its probably like 4:1. but there are still a **** load of sn95s.

I'm doing a PI Swap and I paid $850 shipped for:
-Both heads with 25K on them, valve covers, every newOE gasket you need and some more, newhigh volume oil pump, new water pump, PI intake with polished aluminum crossover with $1K on it, and plenum.
All of those parts except for the oil pump, water pump, and gasketsare used. If you shop around, you can suprise yourself. I have been looking around for 2 months before I bought my stuff.

when you get the pi swap, you are getting the same stuff that is in a 99-04gt, correct????
well in that case it looks like i will be going with the 96-98, but i'm still not 100% sure, so if there is anything else i should know, please go ahead and let me know.
and again thanks for all the facts and opinions yall were a lot of help.

one thing you wanna do with the PI swap, make sure you get 01 and up heads/intake, the 99/00 motors were windsor motors, rather than the romeo motors, the romeo motors were continued starting 01 so make sure you get 01 heads/intake because the 99/00 heads/intake will cause more problems to install. but yeah $1500 for PI stuff and labor id estimate.

I vote finding the cheapest lowest mileage 96-98 you can find. Insurnace is less, you'll probably end up saving a bit of money in the long run, and it SHOULD be a more informative experiance than just buying a 99+ GT...

good luck

*i'll throw this out as well just for kicking around....save your money while youre going to college. being with about 200-250 a month and by time youre done with school... mmmm.... money!*
