Default RE: difference?

hmm makes me wonder if one is stronger than the other. 99-00 had windsor wiwth the 8 bolt flywheel, 01-04 had the romeo with the 6 bolt flywheel

it does make you wonder but i doubt that it would that significant of a difference. like djb1187 said stock on stock...its a drivers race.

i havent had any case of that happening. of course theres a first time for everything but no sign of it the 3 or 4 years ive had mine. ive been around to a lot of different gas stations so if it hasnt happened by now i doubt it will.

ORIGINAL: devsredgt

ya there are two different engine codes on these models if the eighth digit in your vin is an x your motor is a windsor and if its a w your motor is a romeo. the romeo plant wasnt supply the demand to ford had to utilize the windsor plant to keep up. the windsor plant was making the motor for the ford truck at the time and so there was some small difference in the two motor...i cant remember what it was but maybe someone else can.
WTF I HAVE A 03 AND MINE IS A "X" WTF WTF?

i know its weird, ive acutally called ford motor sports, talked to 3 different people, asked repeaditly and they all say if your mustang has an x vin its a windsor, but i have a 6 bolt crank, ford f-ed up somthing because there is a serious gap in information on what the hell is going on

Default RE: difference?

the romeo block was used from 96-99. in 00 the windsor plant began producing the 4.6. the windsor had a different block, 8 bolt fly, different heads and valve covers. the windsor plant originally made the 4.6 and 5.4 for the f-series. the two engines are interchangable as long as you use the external dressup accordingly. to truly tell the difference the windsors have a 'w' cast into the valley and under the timing cover. sorry for the confusion.
