Need some anwsers please
Just got the rear end rebulit after blowing it apart ect. New Ford Racing Gears and some rebuild stuff. Well the gears whine, not as bad as the motive did and the motive did tone down a little bit after break in. Has anyone had any gear install that whine before they were broken in and then whined after they got broken in? Thanks for the reply

See I have been told that by a couple of people and a couple of shops. I don't know if I should make a deal of it to my Uncles friend who did the install or what.

The gears are not supposed to whine, usually if they do, there was an error with the install. I've seen someone say they did whine for about a week and stop though.

Gears are not supposed to whine. Did your stock gears whine? When new gears are installed there are several measurements that need to be taken. Did you buy a instalation kit when you put the new gears in? If not then I know they were not installed correctly. Ford racing gears have a number stamped on them to help with shimming the pinion. The stock gears from Ford have a number stamped on them to. You have to take the two numbers and use an equation to find out which shim to use. If they were installed correctly then there would not be a whine or clunk.
