Default 1600$ quote?! worth it?

Got quoted 1600 for just the labor to swap a 02' gt engine into my 96gt. that sound about right? seems high. im about to just buy the tools and do it myself

Sounds really really high to me.

The engine swap should be a direct bolt in. Its not really that hard, espcially if you don't have LTs or anything.

I would shop around. Where are you located?

That sounds about right. Maybe a coulpe hundred higher than what I had been quoted at several shops in my area. Im doing it myself now.

Actually Im not doing a swap, just a removal-rebuild-install. But I was quoted around 1400 for the removal and reinstall.

$1600 to do a motor swap is a good deal if he is doing a turn key install. Just dont do a odd ball motor swap install like me it gets expensive

i got my shortblock swapped with new heads and cams (and a new clutch) for 2 grand. 1600 doesn't seem that far off.

Seems about right. Wiring and what not takes time and at 75-85 an hour for labor here in NY that seems reasonable as long as it's soup to nuts removal and install.

Its alittle high but not too much...avg i see is @ $1200
