same thing happens to me everytime my cars due for a wash i see a bunch of dust in my shifter and in the boot..and i have a coupe...prob dust comin in from under the shifter outeside or tranny...idk..i just clean it

 

yeah but i can drive the car 15 minutes and its covered with dust again....something is f'ed up

Check if there is some kind of leak or a little opening where the vert marriages tothe windshield seal.Looks like insulator shaving after itgets wet and starts to deteriorate.

 

NM I didn't read all the way through.
So, it's coming from underneath...Could be dust and weathering sucking up from the heat of the tranny and the cold from the outside. Or maybe the inner lining of the shifter boot!

 

i have dust that looks just like that on myseat belt release[&:]

What you mean??? That whole shifter cup w/ boot assembly is new and only been in the car for about 2 days so it cant be that. my lower shift boot is all f'ed up but thats underneather everything, i dont understand how shavings or dust from it could get up there.

 

any other opinions???

lol noo I havent but I dont know if someone has been sneaking in my car at night and doing drugs. Who knows.
